About the Journal

Pusako Akademika: Journal of Islamic Studies and Social Civilization is a peer-reviewed academic journal published in Jambi, Indonesia. The word "Pusako", rooted in the Malay-Jambi tradition, means heritage or legacy. It symbolizes the intellectual legacy of the Islamic scholarly tradition (turāth), which continues to inspire, transform, and engage with modernity. The addition of "Akademika" underscores the journal’s mission as an academic forum that bridges the classical heritage with contemporary challenges in Islamic thought, the humanities, and the social sciences. Pusako Akademika is published twice a year (March and September), inviting contributions from scholars, researchers, and practitioners worldwide committed to advancing Islamic studies as a heritage that continues to shape and renew human civilization.

The journal welcomes original research articles, reviews, and critical studies on topics such as: 1) Classical Islamic heritage (turāth) and modern reformist thought (tajdīd). 2) Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic sciences in dialogue with social realities. 3) Interconnection of Islamic studies with humanities, social sciences, and modern knowledge. 4) Living Islam in cultural, intellectual, and digital expressions. 5) Interdisciplinary and integrative approaches to Islamic studies and civilization.
